Police in hot water over business class flights

The police are changing their own rules on business class flights due to the high expenditure on air travel in recent years. In 2014 and 2013 the police spent a total of 85 thousand euros on business class flights, the AD reported on Friday based on information received through an appeal to the Open Government Act. In future, police officers will only be allowed to travel in business class if they have attend a meeting or take part in an operation immediately after landing, a spokesperson for the police confirmed to the newspaper. "In such a case they must be rested", he explained. Police officers and detectives will also be allowed to fly business class if they have preparations to make during the flight. In all other cases they will soon have to fly in the cheapest possible class. Only police chief Gerard Bouwman will still be allowed to always fly business class. "That has to do with his function and its stature", according to the spokesperson.
