PostNL delivery drivers striking
A number of PostNL independent delivery drivers are striking because they are dissatisfied with the offer the postal company and union FNV came up with after intense negotiations. The strikers are members of independent delivery drivers' union SubcoPartners, NU reports.
SubcoParters represents 350 of the about 1,500 independent delivery drivers in the Netherlands. It is not clear how many of them are participating in the strike.
PostNL offered its independent delivery drivers one of two options. They can either accept a permanent contract, with all the employment conditions it entails - such as pensions or holidays. Or they can accept a 10 percent increase in their earnings.
The deliverers say they need more than that to survive. According to SubcoPartners, FNV gave a clear mandate which it failed to adhere to. Maruice Jacobs of SubcoPartners said he is disappointed in both FNV and PostNL.
