Newly opened tunnel behind Amsterdam Central partly closed

The newly opened tunnel running behind Amsterdam Central Station, which opened to traffic on Monday, has been partly closed after a truck lost its load. This concerns the tunnel from west to east, AD reports. Traffic is being diverted. The police told the newspaper that the truck was carrying concrete and it is not clear how long it will take to clean up the load and reopen the tunne. The so-called Michiel de Ruyter tunnel was opened to traffic on Monday. It directs traffic underground, leaving the quay behind the station car-free. The tunnel has four lanes over two directions. It runs under the bus stop along the IJ.
