Fewer trains due to heat
Due to the hot weather expected for today, NS will be adjusting the train services on a number of routes.
There will be fewer trains on the routes The Hague - Gouda, Woerden - Utrecht and Amsterdam Uitgeest from 10 a.m. on Thursday. From 2:30 p.m. there will be fewer trains on the routes Breukelen - Utrecht - Veenendaal, Rotterdam - Vlaardingen, Rotterdam - Gouda, Amsterdam - Enkhuizen and Nijmegen - Wijchen. This schedule is expected to run until 8 p.m.
According to NOS, ProRail will be performing additional checks in this weather. The steel can reach up to 70 degrees and expands, which may cause twists in the tracks. Rail bridges can also expand, meaning that they are unable to open and close.
