Good samaritan kicked, beaten upon missing bag's return
A 20 year old man from Wieringerwerf was assaulted at the Zaandam Center railway station on Saturday morning after returning a forgotten bag to its owner.
The incident happened around 10:50 a.m. at the Zaandam Center station. After getting off the rain from Hoorn, the young man got onto the escalator behind a man with a bag. At the top of the escalator, the man got off, but left the bag behind.
The victim, who in his own words was only trying to be helpful, grabbed the bag and put it down beside its owner. The man immediately told the young man that he should keep his hands off the bag, slapped him in the face and kicked him on his jaw.
The perpetrator fled in the direction of the center after the incident. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The police are looking for witnesses of this attack. The perpetrator has a dark complexion and a normal build. He is about 1.70 meters tall, between 30 and 40 years old and with short black hair in a crew cut. He was wearing orange or red shorts.
