Celebrated Tilburg flea market festival underway
Tilburg was very busy this weekend with the MeiMartk in full swing. The MayMarkt, or May Market in English, is one of the largest flea markets in the Netherlands. Sales began on Saturday night and the market stayed open through the night until Sunday late afternoon.
Almost anything could be bought at the about 750 stalls that make up the May Market. From a group of men selling maternity clothes, to books, CD's, clothes, old furniture, statues, tools and almost anything you can think of. One guy sold a croc that could be used as an ashtray.

The May Market in Tilburg is the only privately organized flea market in a city center, Omroep Brabant reports. A striking feature of the market is that it is an all night market. Sales began at 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and went on through the night and Sunday to end at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The market usually attracts some 115 thousand visitors. This year the organization expected about 135 thousand visitors.
