Bullets flew everywhere in Amsterdam West
The gunmen involved in the assassination on De Clercqstraat in Amsterdam West on Wednesday, did not only hit their target, but also managed to do a considerable amount of damage to the surroundings.
The attack happened at around 00:15 a.m. on Wednesday in front of Tapas Village sisha bar on De Clercqstraat. Youssef el Khataoui, 25, was killed. According to the police, El Khataoui, from Zaandam, was known to the police.
Witnesses reported hearing several shots being fired. The flying bullets also hit a passing tram, shattering one of its windows. The passengers on the tram dropped to the ground and luckily none of them were injured. According to the police, bullets also hit a parked car, a supermarket and two bank buildings. Miraculously, El Khataoui was the only person to be injured.
The police are still looking for two suspects seen fleeing the scene of the crime on a scooter. A third person of interest, a passenger in El Khataoui's car, turned himself in to the police on Wednesday.
