Power returns to Amsterdam Centraal

Amsterdam Central Station was partially without power on Thursday for two and a half hours, AD writes. Many shops, ticket machines and public transit checkpoints were without electricity from 11:30 a.m. but no rail traffic was affected by the outage. A power cable was damaged Thursday morning, which technicians managed to fix by about 2 p.m. The incident mostly affected the stores located inside the central station, since they had to close their doors for the duration of the electricity issue, a spokesman for national railroad NS the newspaper. Passengers were less affected by the electricity failure, but NS deployed extra staff to assist passengers, since only a handful of ticket machines and gates were working at the time. The power outage also affected postal codes 1014, 1055, 1061, electricity provider Liander reported.
