Amersfoort woman, 110, oldest in Netherlands

Nelly de Vries-Lammerts from Amersfoort turned 110 years old on Tuesday, making her the oldest person in the Netherlands. According to the Municipality of Amersfoort, Mrs. De Vries is still remarkably healthy, NU reports. She never gets sick and hardly uses any medication. "Those who ask her what she misses, will be told that she regrets no longer being able to cycle and walk and that she would prefer to be at home with her children" the municipality said. De Vries was born on May 5th, 1905 in Rotterdam. She grew up in Rotterdam, Doorwerth, Den Bosch and Utrecht. She got married in 1933 and moved to Amersfoort two years later. She had six children with her husband, who died in 1969.
