Crane in fatal accident was unlicensed
The organizers for the Oldtimershow in in Oosterwolde, Gelderland on Sunday, did not specifically apply for a licence to use a crane in the event. The crane toppled on Sunday afternoon, killing a 48 year old man from Oosterwolde. Ten other people, including children, were injured and had to be taken to the hospital.
A spokesperson for the Oldebroek municipality told news agency ANP that the crane has been part of the event for years. In 2014 the event itself was issued a licence for three years, but the crane is not specifically mentioned in it.
The police in Oldebroek announced on Twitter that five of the injured people have since been released from the hospital and that none of the other victims are in critical conditions anymore. Among the wounded are a 4 year old boy and girl from Oude Pekela, a 10 year old boy from Dronten, three boys from Olderbroek aged 7, 8 and 10 years, a 23 year old woman from Oosterwolde, an 8 year old boy from Kamperveen and a 20 year old man and 6 year old boy from Doornspijk.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
