Belgian woman kills, freezes Dutch husband
This was confirmed by her lawyer Tom Noyez. Isabel Duthoit (41) woman from the Flemish Gits has reportedly confessed to killing Jaap van den Blink (51). According to newspaper reports she and the Suriname-born Dutchman had been having problems; he is painted as a violent alcoholoc who regularly beat on his new Belgian wife, leaving her with broken cheekbone and knocked out teeth.
Police often had to intervene in fights between the two. Van den Blink had apparently threatened the woman's life once.
Around Mother's Day last year, she fed him sleeping pills and choked him to death, which according to Noyez was not what she intended. "She just wanted him out of the house to protect herself and her daughter," Noyez said.
She stuffed him in her freezer and kept what took place to herself; not even her 13-year-old daughter who lives at a boarding school. The girl appeared angry on her Facebook page on Tuesday after hearing that police had searched the house and found the dead body. "You already messed up 13,5 years of my life and now you have messed up the rest," she wrote.
It is not clear why police went to the house. Isabel had told friends that her husband was out touring Europe on his Harley Davidson. His family had broken off contact with him for years and thus also had no reasons to be worried about his disappearance.
"His alcohol problems have been going on for a while. When nothing changed, we broke off contact," said his sister. "None of us knew anything about his life. A few weeks ago someone asked about him and i responded: he is probably dead. I never would have guessed that is how it happened. Nobody deserves that."
