King's Day 2015 is underway
King Willem-Alexander's birthday will be celebrated across the Netherlands on Monday.
Amsterdam is expecting hundreds of thousands of visitors to attend the flea markets and about 160 events, including 12 large dance parties, NU reports. Nearly 140 thousand tickets were on sale for the big parties. There is already a line of people waiting for the Vondelpark gate to open so that they can set up their flea market.
Breda is expecting 40 thousand revelers for the second edition of 538Koningsdag. Alkmaar had 25 thousand tickets on sale for SLAM!Koningsdag. The traditional flea market in Utrecht opened on Sunday already and Eindhoven and Rotterdam are also expecting many party goers.
Weather services Weerplaza and Weeronline are expecting a dry day, with sunshine in the west, center and north of the country. There may be some drizzle in the east and southeast. The temperature is expected to rise to 10 degrees along the coast and around 12 and 13 degrees inland.
NS will once again be operating on the Oranje Timetable, with more and longer trains. No alcohol is allowed on trains or at stations.
