Controversial MH17 pathologist dismissed from crash investigation

Pathologist George Maat, who caused quite a bit of controversy by showing pictures of MH17 victims during a lecture on the identification process on Wednesday, has been put out of the forensic team. Minister Ard van der Steur of Security and Justice made this announcement in the Tweede Kamer, lower house of parliament, on Thursday, during the debate on the MH17 disaster. According to the Minister, the forensic team is putting in extra effort to ensure that all the victims have been identified before July 1st. The Public Prosecutor is unhappy with Maat's actions as the pictures from part of the criminal investigation into the attack. This was one of the aspects that led to Maat's removal from the team, Van der Steur said.
