Dutch criminal Sjaak Burger (44), who was shot in the head in Panama in January, is back in the Netherlands. He recently moved in to a Dutch hospital's nursing ward, De Telegraaf reports. He is still badly injured and the prognosis for his potential recovery is unknown.

Burger was shot on Saturday, January 24th, while he was having a meal in a restaurant with another man. He is a major suspect in the Passage Process, that is currently being handled in higher appeal. Among other things, the Public Prosecutor considers him guilty of complicity in murder and being a member of a criminal organization.

Burger's transport to the Netherlands took place in secret and under tight security, as Justice did not want to give whoever attacked him another opportunity to try again.

Burger was the second suspect in the Passage Process to be attacked in a short time. On December 24th last year Ali Akgun was assassinated in Istanbul.
