Over €50k raised for trucker hurt in motorcyclist's suicide
The crowdfunding action on Dream or Donate to help transporter Jan Selie to pay the debts he incurred when a suicidal motorcycle driver crashed into him and save his business has already raised more than 50 thousand euros.
In 2008 Selie was involved in a fatal traffic accident when a motorcyclist drove right at him, on his side of the road, at high speed. "I could not dodge..." Selie states on the Dream or Donate site. "For years I have been working to pay off my debts. Last week I was told that my transport license must be requested again. If I can not get the money together, I will have to close my business and lose everything..."
Selie's company is at risk because of all the damages he had to account for when the motorcyclist killed himself. After years of paying what he can, Selie has brought the debts down to 25 thousand euros. The crowdfunding action has already brought in 50,580 euros, more than double what he needs. Donations range from 5 euros to 1 thousand euros, with people also leaving encouraging comments for Jan.
