Police find 1200 kg fireworks in Almelo

Police in Almelo confiscated 1,200 kilograms of heavy grades fireworks in Almelo last Saturday. Two people have been arrested.

Reacting on an anonymous tip, officers had gone to the house at Hantermansstraat, where they found several boxes containing the illegal fireworks in the attick. When they searched the shed adjacent to the house, they found 55 more boxes. The 46-year-old woman and the 20-year-old man who lived there were taken into custody. It was not immediately clear what their relationship was. Police say they are investigating the origin of the fireworks.
