More community-focused mosque pitched for Gouda

The mosque management of the El Wahda mosque is making plans for a "substantially" smaller and more community focused mosque in Gouda after withdrawing from the original plans for a "mega mosque" on Tuesday, NU reports. The originally planned mosque would have been able to accommodate 1,500 people and was planned to be housed in the vacant Prins Willem-Alexander Barracks along with De Ark (a school for children with learning difficulties) and Gemiva (a medical day care center). The neighborhood association had opposed the mega mosque, but is "willing to talk about a community mosque". An independent facilitator will discuss this with those involved.
