Racism, obscene gestures at heart of Feyenoord accusations
UEAFA is accusing Feyenoord of racist behavior and throwing objects on the field during the Europa League match against AS Roma on Thursday. Feyenoord player Erwin Mulder is also accused of making the "fuck you" gesture, AD reports.
On Thursday AS Roma won 1-2 at De Kuip in Rotterdam. The match had to be stopped just after half time because Feyenoord fans had thrown numerous objects on the field. One of these objects was an inflatable banana, which landed near AS Roma’s Ivory Coast striker Gervinho. The next day FIFA boss Sepp Blatter hinted at racism at Feyenoord, a claim that was emphatically denied by Feyenoord director Eric Gudde.
The Rotterdam team also denies that Erwin Mulder made the rude hand gesture. According to them, footage will prove that it was not the case.
Misbehaving Feyenoord fans have already cost the Rotterdam club 80 thousand euros in fines this season, De Telegraaf reports.
