Cab drivers run UberPOP drivers off road: Report
There were several incidents of taxi drivers running UberPop drivers off the road in The Hague on Friday night and Saturday morning, AT5 reports.
A taxi driver told the newspaper that about 25 regular taxi drivers ran approximately 12 UberPop drivers off the road. A spokesperson for the police confirmed three incidents in Rozengracth center at around 02:00 a.m., in Van Woustraat at around 02:30 a.m. and on Gerard Doustraat at around 04:00 a.m. No one was arrested and there were no injuries. The spokesperson emphasized that taxi drivers should not take the law into their own hands.
UberPop was banned by the court in December as the drivers do not have the permits and paperwork required for transporting passengers. Caught drivers will be fined. Last week Uber, the company behind UberPop, received a 50 thousand euro fine for caught drivers.
