Man posing as cop telling people loved ones have died

The police have put out a warning of an unknown man calling people in The Hague and telling them that their loved ones have died. The man poses as a police officer. This bad news prankster has called at least ten people in The Hague, but there have also been several reports of him outside the region. The man calls and identifies himself as a detective. He then proceeds to tell whoever answered the phone that one of their loved ones are deceased. The police would like to assure people that they almost always give bad news in person. The police advise people to get as much information as possible about the man if he calls, like making note of his name or telephone number.
