Large fire in Heerlen business building

Firefighters spent almost 5 hours trying to bring a fire in a business complex on Passartweg, Heerlen under control. They only managed to do so after breaking holes through the building's walls. This allowed them to reach the fire in the basement. The fire was under control at around 02:45 this morning, NOS reports. No one was injured in the fire. The residents of more than 10 nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution. They have since been allowed to return home. The fire department have told residents to close windows and doors to keep the smoke out. The burning building has two floors. The first floor sells clothing and cars and caravans are sold in the basement. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
