Hundreds without heating gas for days

1,100 households and buildings in Velsen-Noord have been without gas since Thursday due to a gas line and water pipe being hit during a drilling. The water ran into the gas line and spread through the pipes. A spokesperson for network administrator Liander announced yesterday that the gas has been restored at 618 of these addresses, including a primary school. Engineers are working to reconnect the rest of the addresses to the gas. For this kilometers of pipeline has to be cleaned. Five of the six kilometers of the affected pipeline has since been cleaned. Liander stated that the job should be done by Thursday and that everyone will have gas by then. Another part of Velsen lost power on Monday morning, but this error is not connected to the gas problem, a spokesperson said.
