Dutch crowdfunding doubles to €60 million

In 2014 63 million euros was raised in the Netherlands through crowdfunding. That is double compared to 2013. More than 2 thousand projects and companies were successfully financed in 2014. In recent years more than 100 million euros was raised through crowd funding in the Netherlands, Douw & Koren reports. On the whole, crowdfunding platforms are relatively positive about what 2015 will bring. "Perhaps the potential of crowdfunding in the short term is a bit overestimated. It was especially something for trendy gadgets and innovators. However we see that crowdfunding is becoming more mainstream and is becoming a serious alternative to how good initiatives that make the world a better place organize and finance together." said Bart Lacroix of 1%Club. "In 2015 we expect a further significant increase in volumes in the Netherlands." says Martijn van Schelven from Geldvoorelkaar. "Further professionalization for the sector, as well as the greater 'awareness" from key players who have realized the crowdfunding is a serious alternative to regular financing, makes the volume of individual projects as well as the overall crowdfunding market will further increase."
