Delfzijl brings earthquake issue to Council of State

The municipality of Delfzijl is threatening to go to the Council of State to appeal against Minister Henk Kamp's (Economic Affairs) gas extraction decision. Delfzijl is worried about the safety of the chemical park in the municipality. The municipal management has been waiting for over a year for a response from Minister Kamp on what an earthquake would mean for the area and what measures he's taking to ensure safety. The province of Groningen earlier threatened to go to the Council of State if Minister Kamp does not drastically reduce the natural gas extraction. The province fears for the safety of Groningen.
