Snow blankets Groningen; slick roads nationwide
Groningen had a white Christmas. A layer of snow fell in the northern province last night.
The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) warns of slick roads across the country, especially on bridges and overpasses due to wet sections freezing. There is snow on the highways and provincial roads, but the especially the local roads can be treacherous and slick. Local fog could disturb the traffic even further and increase the chance of slickness on the roads. The slickness should disappear by late morning.
Temperatures were below zero across a large part of the country early this morning. Groningen was the coldest with a minimum of -4 degrees.
The roads will be slick again tonight caused by wet and later dry snow. The center and south of the country can expect a few centimeters of snow during the day tomorrow.
