Student housing size minimum reduced to 15m2
The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Monday that the minimum area requirement for student housing will be reduced from 18m² to 15m². The requirement for a balcony and bike shed will also be removed.
With this Minister Stef Blok of Housing wants to make building new student housing easier and more attractive to investors. Blok previously simplified the requirements in the Building Act 2012.
Individuals may also more easily build themselves a new house from July 1st next year. This means, for example, more freedom in designing your own home, such as the stairs, the ceiling height and the size of the bathroom.
Three municipalities have had successful experiences with this under the Crisis and Recovery Act. It will be applied nationwide next year.
