Rijksmuseum sees record attendance in 2014

The Rijksmuseum received nearly 2.5 million visitors this past year, a new record. In 2013, its opening year, the museum attracted more than 2.2 million visitors. More than half (55 percent) come from the Netherlands. More than 350 thousand children visited the Rijksmuseum in 2014, an increase of nearly 20 percent. Of these about 100 thousand children visited the museum for school. "Especially the record visit of the 350 thousand children makes me feel positive about the future." said Wim Pijbes, director of the Rijksmuseum.
