Elderly woman rescued just as train smashed car
A bystander helped a 73 year old woman out of her car just before a train crashed into it.
The woman stopped her car too early and the 2005 Renault Twingo got stuck on the the railroad crossing on Noordlaan, Velp. One of the bystanders, a 23 year old man from Westervoort, tried to get the car loose, but with no success. As the train approached the man grabbed the woman and helped her out of the car, just before the train collided with it. Thanks to the man's prompt action, no one was hurt.
The train, which was on the way to Zutphen, could not continue. Another train had to tow it away. The 100 or so passengers of the train continued their journeys on buses.Auto onder trein in #Velp; vrouw net op tijd gered http://t.co/hZjx01X3qU pic.twitter.com/xM7XPY9rJD
