Sexting by one in five Brabant teens: report
One in five Brabant teenagers has taken part in sexting - sending a nude picture of themselves via social media. According to the Tilburg foundation Kompaan and De Bocht, the number is worryingly high, especially since those pictures can haunt a youth for years.
Today Tilburg is starting a campaign to make young people aware of the consequences of sexting. It only takes a few seconds to take a nude selfie, but the consequences can haunt you for a lifetime.
"The problem is not those who take the picture, but that those who receive the picture, spreads it." says Bregje van Tilborg, a youth worker at Kompaan and De Bocht in Tilburg. In most cases the picture spreads much faster and much further than the creator of the picture ever expected.
The campaign material is designed by Tilbur youth, under the guidance of Van Tilborg and her colleagues from Kompaan and De Bocht.
