Eindhoven Airport grows; 10k more flights in 2015
Eindhoven Airport is expanding step by step so that the airport will have 25 thousand extra flights by the year 2020.
This decision was announced last Wednesday by Secretary of State Wilma Mansveld (Infrastructure and Environment) and Minister Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert (Defense).
In the first step, some 10 thousand extra aircraft movements may take place at Eindhoven Airport until November next year. If this shows that sufficient measures are taken to counteract noise, the number of flights allowed will be increased with another 15 thousand.
Eindhoven Airport, which is also used by Defense, is receiving this expansion to strengthen the main port position of Schiphol. The airport at Lelystad is also being expanded for that reason. Schiphol will focus on intercontinental flights and transfer passengers.
It is also being considered how many planes may land at Eindhoven between 23:00 pm and midnight next year.
