King's portrait reproduction cost €1000
Reproductions of the official portraits of King Willem-Alexander can now be ordered via a website for between 525.50 and 1089.65 euros, depending on the desired format.
These prices include frame and shipping. The reproductions are available at staatsieportretten-bestellen.nl.
The three official portraits were presented at Palace Het Loo on April 24th. The artists involved were photographer Rineke Dijkstra and visual artists Iris van Dongen and Femmy Otten.
According to Minister Bussemaker of Culture, the reproductions took a long time partly because awarding a contract to a printer and building a website takes time. The high price is due to the high quality of technology used to print the reproductions.
An official portrait of the head of state usually hangs in public buildings. Since Princess Beatrix's retirement her official portrait was often replaced by a picture of Willem-Alexander in his royal robe, which can be downloaded for free on the Royal House's website since his coronation.
