New plan assured to help most vulnerable kids
The Cabinet is working together with the United Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) and healthcare providers to find solutions to make sure that vulnerable children aren't left without specialized childcare next year, the NOS report.
On the 1st of January 2015, government tasks such as youth care will be transfered to municipalities. Financial support is needed to make sure that care does not depreciate in quality. The Cabinet will also discuss whether municipalities in one region could purchase specialized care collectively.
According to State Secretary of Public Healthcare Martin van Rijn and Fred Teeven of Justice, arrangements are already being made about co-operation in an area with 1 million residents.
Before the end of the year, municipalities should be in agreement with healthcare providers about youth care. The NOS writes that it has become clear this week that specialized youth care is going to be a problem with regards to municipalities purchasing it for healthcare packages, which is putting providers in trouble.
