Suspected jihadists out on supervised release
Two men from Huizen suspected of preparing for terrorist activities have been released under strict conditions.
They are not allowed to leave the Netherlands and have to regularly report to the probation service. They are also not allowed to have any contact with each other. The two men were arrested in late August.
The one man, a 33 year old resident of Huizen, was released on September 11th by order of the investigating judge. The other man (31) was released on September 5th.
According to the Public Prosecutor, the men's short term plan was to travel to Syria with their children and join the terrorist group ISIS.
Yesterday the Public Prosecutor demanded on appeal that the two men should be arrested again. The police found descriptions of explosives, explanations on the use of weapons and text about a suicide attack in the home of the 33 year old suspect.
The court ruled that the men may be arrested again, but the Public Prosecutor is satisfied with the new conditions. According to the Public Prosecutor there is little chance that the men will flee.
