Chemical leak burns two workers

Two men have been treated for blistering chemical burns at the Huntsman chemical company in Rotterdam. The industrial accident occurred after methylene diphenyl diisocyanate leaked from a tanker, said a spokesman from the Veiligheidsregio Rotterdam-Rijnmond.

The two men were immediately put in an emergency safety shower for half an hour and rushed to hospital. Safety officials feared the men suffered severe injuries to their faces.

It is not yet known how the leak occurred but an investigation is underway into the cause of the accident.
