Dozens of rounds fired in Amsterdam shooting
[UPDATED] One man was killed at a shooting in Amsterdam Oost yesterday evening, witnesses say that the suspect used an automatic weapon to shoot off several rounds, Het Parool reports.
Police report that they found dozens of shell casings on the corner of the C. van Eesterenlaan and the Borneokade. The victim, a 34-year-old local, was shot several times, and passed away in hospital later in the night from his injuries.
According to an update from Het Parool, the victim is the known Amsterdam criminal Derkiaoui van der Meijden, also known as 'Derk' or 'Pirki'. According to the paper, he is suspected of involvement with the shooting in December 2012 in the Staatsliedenbuurt of Amsterdam, in which 21-year-old Saïd el Yazidi and 28-year-old Yousself Lkhorf were assassinated. According to an escaped target from this shooting, Benaouf A., Van der Meijden killed Amsterdam criminal Ptrick Brisban in Diemen earlier that month.
The victim was in the police system for several misdemeanors, and was shot at around 11.15 p.m. According to witnesses, there were several rounds fired off on the Zeeburgerkade as well as the Borneokade.
A witness says that he saw three men, two together and the other alone, walking at the foot of the Entrepotbrug, which crosses the water of the Entrepothaven in-between the Zeeburgerkade and the Borneokade. The witness heard shots, which sounded like they came from "a kalashnikov", and saw one man running over the bridge in the direction of the Borneokade. The other men pursued him. More shots were fired at the other end of the bridge.
One of the pursuants was carrying a long object under his arm that looked like a gun, witnesses say. He was between 25 and 30 years old and was wearing dark clothing. Police are looking for a dark-colored scooter, which left shortly after the shooting in the direction of the Panamalaan.
According to Benaouf A., Van der Meijden was one of Amsterdam's hired assassins, who was also hired by Gwenette Martha, the notorious killer who was himself executed on the 22nd of May this year.
"Still full-on police investigation at 2 places after shooting Amsterdam-Oost. Looks like pursuit."
