Minister Opstelten: Fewer break-ins

The number of home invasions in the Netherlands has dropped by 15 percent in the first half year of 2014 in comparison to the corresponding period last year. According to Security and Justice Minister Ivo Opstelten this shows that the descent that started in 2013 is continuing in 2014. The Minister said yesterday in Hoorn at the start of the campaign “Fighting Hotspots Home Invasions Noord Holland” that 2013 saw 5 percent fewer home invasions than 2012. “It pleases me to see that the work of all parties is leading to these beautiful results. It stimulates a continuation of the approach,” he said. Opstelten said the intention is to bring back the number of home invasions to 30% by 2017, in relation to 2012.
