Kid on feeding tube barred from Dolfinarium terrace
A family was turned away from the terrace at the Dolfinarium marine mammal park on Saturday because one of the children was on a feeding tube due to an illness. A friend of the family took to Facebook to vent her rage. According to the friend, Saskia Schouten, the terrace security told the family that the feeding tube could make other guests uncomfortable, the Algemeen Dagblad reports.
Dolfinarium has placed a message on their Facebook, saying that they are attempting to verify the event, and find the security guard in question. "If the story is true then it is very bad and we will of course offer our excuses to this family and (more than) make it up to them."
On Facebook, Schouten tells that the incident occurred after another mother remarked how strange it was to see a child on a feeding tube. "She was so rude to say something about it, and even to openly ask my friend if she was taking care of her child properly", Schouten says on Facebook.
According to Schouten, the woman then went to the security guard, who came up to the family to say that consumption of any kind was not permitted at the Dolfinarium terrace. The family was then asked to leave the terrace because the tube feeding was a "sickening situation" for the other guests.
In a second response to this situation, Dolfinarium writes on Facebook that none of their regular staff have any recollection of this incident, and that consumption on their terrace is in fact allowed, "let alone if this pertains to tube feeding." They will speak with the family later this week, at the family's request, to discover what exactly happened.
