Police woman shoots disturbed man
Feeling threatened by an unknown man who ignored her order to lie down, a police woman in Apeldoorn gunned him down Wednesday night.
The officer had gone to Pieter Saenredamstraat around 9.45pm where there had been reports of a disturbed man threatening people with a knife. Some residents say the man had also been preaching out loud.
While colleagues stayed back, the female officer walked up to him, apparently to calm him down.
Police say that when she ordered him to lie down on the ground, he started fighting with someone from the neighborhood, at which point the officer fired at him. While residents thought he was killed, but police stress that he was injured, seriously.
He was admitted to the hospital. Federal detectives are investigating the shooting.
