Trains stalled after fatal accident
Train traffic between Apeldoorn, Gelderland, and Deventer, Overijssel, was stalled today after a NS train struck a car at a railroad crossing in Apeldoorn. At least one person in the car was killed in the accident in which the automobile was dragged several hundred meters, according to broadcaster NOS.
It is unknown how many people were traveling in the car at the time of the accident. Police say the damage to the vehicle was extensive, and the train was also banged up in the incident. Nobody onboard the train was injured.
The rail route is expected to be closed at least until 5 p.m. Passengers who had been on the train were taken between stations by bus.
