Four held after seeking police accomodation
When police in ‘s Hertogenbosch locked up four people early Monday morning, they probably did exactly what these people wanted.
A police report said the foursome were met by officers and emergency workers at Jan Schoffer laan around 2.30am, where there had been reports of a scooter rider being knocked down by a car that then sped away. The 20 year-old who said he was gravely injured was rushed to a hospital, where medical personnel were unable to find any sign that he had indeed been run over. There was not one bruise on his body, police say.
It turned out that the so-called victim from Gemert and his 20-year-old girlfriend from Rosmalen had actually been to the police station earlier in the night, claiming that they had been kicked out from where they were staying and needed somewhere else to spend the night.
That is when they manufactured the story about the accident in hopes of securing a hospital bed for the night. To make their story more believable, their witnesses –an 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman from ‘s Hertogenbosch- gave false statements.
Police arrested all four of them.
