Second warmest winter in 115 years
The last winter in the Netherlands was the second warmest winter since temperatures started being recorded in 1901. According to WeerOnline.nl, the average temperature was 6 degrees, whereas 3.4 degrees is normal.
There were only 10 days this winter when it froze. In the average winter, there are usually 38 days when temperatures reach freezing levels.
The mild winter did not help the economy, however, as gas usage and export dropped. Restaurants and hotels did profit from the relatively warm weather.
