Man takes ax into store

Staff and customers of a clothing store in Tilburg had the scare of their lives this morning when a man walked in with a wood cleaver. The clerk told police he seemed under the influence of drugs. When he turned around the clerk and the two customers in the store saw that he was hiding an ax behind his back. The customers –a mother and her daughter- ran out the store thinking he wanted to rob the store, but the man walked out the store in the direction of Heukelomseweg. Police were able to arrest him shortly after. Prosecutors are considering whether they should keep him in custody, because he actually had not threatened anyone with the axe and did not steal anything from the store. Police say though that he is known to the justice system and has violated terms on his most recent release from jail.
