Five kids, two others hurt in car crash

Seven people –five of them children- were injured in a three-car smash-up near Culemborg Thursday morning. Two of the children were in serious condition police say. The accident took place around 8.00am. Police say it happened when a 35-year-old woman from Tiel made a left turn and smashed her car into another vehicle on Rijksstraatweg near the Zee dijk. She was injured, as was the driver of the other car and its five children passengers. A third car that was driving behind the woman from Tiel then piled up into the two other cars. Bystanders gave first aid, after which emergency services came with fire trauma helicopters and two ambulances to transport the injured to the hospital.
