Amsterdam fire injures 13

A fire broke out in a flat in Amsterdam on Sunday, injuring 13 people. Among the injured are three babies and two children, who inhaled excess smoke. Two were brought to hospital. Others were able to be treated on site. It is unclear what started the fire, which broke out in a staircase of a flat in the Slotervaart neighborhood. Residents of around eight flats were blocked from exiting the building by the smoke. The fire department was called in, and these residents were able to be rescued by ladder from balconies. The fire was extinguished quickly.
