Els Borst gets 391 votes

Even in death former Minister Els Borst pulled off with some other politicians were not able to during Wednesday's election; Borst claimed 391 preference votes from her fellow residents in the municipality of De Bilt.

This was announced on Friday by De Bilt mayor Arjen Gerritsen. Before she died, Borst (81) was listed as number 21 for D66 in De Bilt. When she was found dead in her house at Ruysdaellaan in Bilthoven in early February, it was too late to still remove her candidacy. Fellow candidate Frans Poot said many D66 voters decided to still give her their votes out of respect. D66 emergend as the biggest winner in De Bilt. Police are still looking for clues regarding what could have lead to the retired politician's death.
