Rescueer drowns while saving cat
A Dutch ship's captain drowned Sunday afternoon in a canal in Haltern, Germany, when he tried to safe his cat who had fallen into the water.
The 60-year-old captain jumped overboard to rescue his cat, but couldn't stay afloat. His wife, who was on board, called emergency responders. The victim was pulled out of the water, but could not be resuscitated. He died in the hospital.
It is unknown if the cat survived.
