Cops rescue thief to lock him up
For thieves, getting caught by police is probably one of those dangers that comes with the job. But surely it doesn’t happen that often that they call police on themselves.
One man in Velp decided he had no choice but to call the police on himself. Police say the 23-year-old man had broken into a restaurant building on President Kennedylaan Thursday night. For some unexplained reason he had crawled into the kitchen dumbwaiter, where he found himself firmly stuck. Upon realizing that he had properly wedged himself into an unyielding spot in the tight elevator, he fingered his cell phone out of his pockets and called police to come rescue him.
They were able to get him out with the help of the restaurant owner, but his freedom was brief. He was taken to the police station where he remained in custody today. Police say he broke a window to enter the restaurant.
