Factory chicken ads ire Jumbo markets
Chain supermarket, Jumbo, is very unhappy with the radio ads by "Wakker Dier," where they call on customers to 'no longer buy the horrible cut-price chicken' from Jumbo. The supermarket has no intentions of taking them off their shelves, according to Frits van Eerd, manager, in an interview with "Radio 1 Journaal."
Although the turnover has not suffered from the negative publicity, the chain supermarket is still affected by the negative campaign. Customers do ask questions about the chicken. Van Eerd appreciates the growing awareness of consumers for the cheap meat, but 'policy is policy, meat with a lowest price guarantee is the store's most important success factor.'
