Ruud van Nistelrooij to be assistant to Guus Hiddink
Guus Hiddink, the most desired candidate for manager of the National football team, is going to present himself along with Ruud van Nistelroij and Danny Blind as technical staff, next month.
It has been a public secret for several months, that Guus Hiddink will follow Louis van Gaal after the World Cup. Bert van Oostveen, director of professional football of the KNVB, does not want to confirm the return of current trainer-advisor Philip Cocu at PSV until he is sure about the entire filling of new staff positions of the Dutch team.
Hiddink initially tried to win over Ronald Koeman to stand as his right hand man with Oranje. The Feyenoord trainer does not necessarily want the position. He feels ready for the function of manager.
Blind is currently in an assistant role with Van Gaal at the Dutch national team. It is interesting for him to stay with Oranje because Hiddink may only stay on as manager in France until the Euro Cup of 2016. The meaning is that the Achterhoek (Province of Overijssel) native will make a place for his first assistant. Hiddink would then remain active as advisor.
It became known earlier that Patrick Kluivert would follow in Van Gaal's footsteps and bid adieu after the World Cup. The Amsterdammer also thinks it's time for something new.
Hiddink thinks Ruud van Nistelrooij has in the meantime become ready to replace Kluivert.
Van Nistelrooij and Kluivert not only played the same positions, they were also born on the same day. Van Nistelrooij is interning as trainer at PSV B1 and wants to achieve his diploma as soon as possible.
