Girl smashed down by cop car

A police car speeding to an emergency smashed into an 18-year-old girl on a scooter in Tilburg Thursday. Police say the girl was on a scooter at Baroniebaan around 11.00pm, but apparently did not notice that other bikers had stopped to give way to the police car that came speeding. Its blue emergency lights were blazing, but at the instruction of dispatcher the officer had not activated the sirens. The girl got run down. She was transported to a hospital where it turned out that she probably broke her pelvis. Police say they have contacted her father; they have also been interviewing witnesses and taking pictures of the scene for further investigation of the accident.
